From the moment you close your front door until you reach the check-in desk, there are several steps that can go wrong. These are the advantages of taking a taxi to the airport at each one.

Advantages of taking a taxi to the airport: flight day, step by step

The main advantage of taking a taxi to the airport is that it turns the journey into a single step: it picks you up at your door at the agreed time and drops you at the departures level of your terminal, with your luggage, with no changes, no parking and at any time, including the early hours. With a fixed price, you also know in advance what you will pay. Every other option means linking several legs together, and each one is a point where time can be lost.

Flight day in five moments

To make it clear, we have split the journey into the five stages where something can go wrong.

1. Leaving home at the time you choose

With a booked taxi, you decide when to leave based on your flight, not on a train timetable. This matters most for first-thing flights: the metro and Cercanías (commuter rail) have opening times and, for some flights, they do not leave the recommended margin of two hours for European flights and three for international ones. If you are unsure when to set off, there is a guide in when to get to the airport.

2. The journey: no changes with suitcases

Barajas Airport is served by Metro line 8, Cercanías (T4 only) and buses, including the express bus from the city centre. They are good options if you are travelling light and live near a station. But with two large suitcases, children or older people, every staircase, ticket barrier or change of platform counts. In a taxi, your luggage goes in the boot from your door to the terminal. The alternatives, with their pros and cons, are in the ways to get to Barajas Airport.

3. Getting to the right terminal

Barajas has four terminals, and T4 is separate from T1, T2 and T3. Getting it wrong means moving between them with no time to spare. In a taxi, you just give your airline's terminal when you book or when you get in; if you are not sure which it is, check which Barajas terminal you need before you leave.

4. Arriving at departures: no parking and no rush at the kerb

If you go in your own car, you have to leave it in a car park and walk or take an internal shuttle to the terminal; when you get back, you have to collect it and pay for the days. If a relative takes you, they have to use the departures access roads, where you can only stop long enough to unload, and then drive home again. A taxi drops you at the door and leaves. The cost comparison with your own car, parking days included, is in by car or by taxi to the airport?

5. The return journey, sorted from the start

You can also book your taxi back. With your flight number we check the arrival terminal and confirm the meeting point; if your flight changes, just let us know by phone or WhatsApp. We explain how it works on the airport pickup page.

When you do not need a taxi

If you are travelling alone, with hand luggage only, mid-morning, and you live next to a Metro line 8 station, the metro is a reasonable and cheaper option. A taxi makes the difference when two or more of these come together: an early start, suitcases, several travellers, children or a journey with changes.

How much it costs and how to book

Our price is fixed by zone and does not change with traffic or the time of day: from inside the M-30 it is €33, and the price for each neighbourhood or town is shown in the fares by area. You can book your taxi to the airport days in advance or for the same day; with less than two hours' notice, it is best to call 911 76 00 81.
