La Cabrera, gateway to the Sierra Norte beside the A-1
La Cabrera is the main town on this stretch of the A-1: many residents of the surrounding villages come here to run errands and do their shopping, and in summer and at weekends it fills up with second-home owners. Behind it rises the Sierra de La Cabrera, with the convent of San Antonio on the hillside and the Pico de la Miel, well known among climbers and hikers.
To get to the airport, the natural route is the A-1 towards Madrid. The taxi heads down the motorway and joins the Barajas access roads, so you do not have to think about parking or driving home tired after a long flight. As the price is fixed in advance, a hold-up coming into Madrid does not change what you pay.
