Madrid, home to multinational companies: which areas they are in and how to get there from Barajas

Madrid is home to a large share of the headquarters of multinational companies in Spain thanks to a combination of factors: it is the country's political and financial capital, it has an airport that is the main gateway between Europe and Latin America, a very comprehensive transport network and a first-rate fabric of professional services, talent and offices. Multinational companies in Madrid are grouped mainly along the Castellana axis and in the large business parks in the north of the city and in the towns to the north-west.

Why multinationals choose Madrid

  • Air connectivity: Barajas is Spain's main airport and Iberia's hub, with a very extensive network of flights to Europe and, above all, to Latin America. For many companies, Madrid is the natural base for managing the Spanish-speaking market.
  • Central location: the high-speed rail network connects Madrid with Spain's main cities, and the radial motorways start in the capital.
  • Business ecosystem: headquarters of major banks, energy and telecoms companies, consultancies, law firms and technology centres, as well as business schools with an international reputation.
  • Quality of life: a factor that carries weight when relocating executives and international teams.

Where the big corporate headquarters are

The Castellana axis and Azca

The Paseo de la Castellana is Madrid's great business artery. In its central section, the Azca complex, in the Tetuán district, brings together office towers, banks and hotels next to Nuevos Ministerios. We explain it in more detail in from the airport to the heart of Madrid's financial district.

Cuatro Torres Business Area

At the northern end of the Castellana stand the tallest skyscrapers in the city, a skyline that has become a symbol of business Madrid. The area belongs to the Fuencarral district.

Las Tablas and the north of the city

In Las Tablas you will find two of Madrid's large corporate campuses: Distrito Telefónica and Ciudad BBVA. The north of the city, next to the A-1 and M-40 motorways, is also home to numerous office buildings belonging to technology and services companies.

Business parks in the metropolitan area

  • Alcobendas and San Sebastián de los Reyes: next to the A-1, with business parks housing the headquarters of pharmaceutical, technology and consumer goods multinationals. See taxi in Alcobendas.
  • Boadilla del Monte: home to Ciudad Grupo Santander, one of the largest corporate campuses in Europe.
  • Las Rozas and Pozuelo de Alarcón: office parks next to the A-6, with many international subsidiaries.
  • Campo de las Naciones: next to the IFEMA exhibition centre and very close to the airport, with hotels and offices designed for business travellers.

Other notable headquarters, such as the Campus Repsol in Méndez Álvaro, show that corporate offices are also spread across the south of the city's central area.

From the airport to the meeting: tips for business travellers

The journey between Barajas and the office is part of the schedule. These tips help keep it from becoming a problem:

  1. Book your transfer with your flight number: we check the terminal and confirm the meeting point; if the flight changes, just let us know by phone or WhatsApp.
  2. Ask for a fixed price: with a fixed fare by area you know in advance what you will pay, regardless of traffic. To anywhere inside the M-30, where the Castellana and Azca are, it is €33.
  3. Centralise invoicing if you travel often: we explain how the corporate account for businesses works.
  4. Allow a margin for the return: meetings run over. For a European flight, it is best to be at the terminal about 2 hours before; 3 for international flights.

If you organise travel for a team or host foreign clients, in airport taxi service for businesses you will find how to plan it.
